If you haven't tried John Grisham's books, give them a go. The best ones (in my opinion) are The Client and The Runaway Jury. (But they're all good). They're well-written, fast-paced, and have interesting characters and great plots. I get bored with mainstream books sometimes, but Grisham's books always hold my attention. They're a good break from more "literary" books, if you want to read just for fun. What's fun is reading them, then watching the movies, because the movies are usually great too!

Depends on your interests. I'm a sci-fi/horror geek myself, so most of this will slant that way.
authors: Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams (not for everyone), Patricia Briggs, Alanna Morland, Alan Dean Foster, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, Kelly Armstrong, Neil Gaiman, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Robert Lynn Asprin. Also check out these guys in general fiction: Christopher Moore, Chuck Palahniuk (not for everyone), and Judith Merkle Riley.

That's a tough question to answer, since you gave no indication of what genre you like to read. Go try and get lost in a library stack, you are sure to come out with something that fits your fancy for that day.
