My daughter is now 1 year old and we are exclusievely breastfeeding. Since I've had her i have lost 72 pounds, by eating high lean protein and low sugar and low carb diet. Just replacing empty calories with protein. I have had more energy doing that so I've been walking 2 miles a day with 30 minutes of high impact cardio 2 times a week. I have been told that because of my milk production of pumping and her nursing constantly that I burned enough calories to have ran 4 miles. In addition to my exercise schedule and her the weight has literally melted off. But in a safe way. Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and eat healthy. Try a low carb diet, and plenty of will power and self restraint. you can do it,.

Diets high in fiber, vegetables, fruits and proteins are the best for nursing mothers. I have 3 children and this is what the dr. told me to eat. Remember to drink LOTS of liquids-not caffeinated or alchoholic beverages, as caffiene will act as a diuretic and your dr. should have already explained the effects of alcohol-in order to keep you hydrated. It would be the same type of diet you ate when you were pregnant, with the exception of adding more liquids-when you are thirsty drink. Contrary to some opinions you don't need milk to make milk, just good, healthy liquids.

drink plenty of water. if you want to lose weight then you should cut out sweets. snack on fruits and veggies instead. i keep a bag of baby carrots in the fridge at all times. rice cakes are good. i also like to eat Jell-O that has fruit in it. don't forget to keep taking your prenatal vitamins.

Check out the link below for more info on dieting and breastfeeding.
Remember.....9 mos on, 9 mos off! Don't try to shed the pounds too quickly or it could harm your milk supply.
