The best thing that will 'sell' your make-up job to everyone as a lounge singer is perfect red lipstick.

I prefer Max Factor Lip Finity ($9) or the Cover Girl ($8)equivalent. Takes practice but once it is on it does NOT come off, even if bummped by your mic.

If I am broke my next best choice is either St. Tropez or Black Radience. I think St Tropez target buyer are Latinas and Black Radience African Americans, of which I am neither. Doesn't matter their lipsticks are the best $1-$3 (depends on where you go) lipsticks around, everything else bleeds and smears.

If you do use tradtional lip stick, use a burgandy lip liner as opposed to red, again may have to practice at first. Actually if you are picking between shades of red select one that is more burgandy than bright red, reads better on stage.

Finally once you apply your red, blott, blott, blott. Just trust me on this more does not stay on longer. Without blotting your mic WILL get the lipstick everywhere.

You want something very regal and elegant. So nothing too skanky looking or overly dramatic either. It depends really on your skin tone, but maybe a rose color for the lips, smoky eye colour and long eyelashes (you can get fake ones if you like). And a little bit of blush. But I would accent the eyes more and make everything else look light and delicate. Good luck!

If you dont want to spend the money on real "stage" makeup use this rule of thumb when using anything else. All your makeup has to be exaggerated when on stage to be seen at all. That means darker shades of foundation than what you would wear on the street, heavier eye liner and shadow, and dark lipstick. Have fun!

go to Walgreen's or target. get some liquid eyeliner and some regular eyeliner. draw thick dramatic lines on your top lids. where extremely bright and vibrant red lipstick. you will look classically sexy.

stage makeup is different...under lights..you will look very pale..you need plenty of colour...a dark foundation....lots of blusher..outline your eyes with black..and apply some blue eye shadow....lots of hightlighter on bow and cheek bones...and dont forget the red lip stick....this might look dramatic...but it will dissapear once your on stage...you dont need to spend a lot..look for discontinued lines....
