I was number one in the police academy. I have been trying to get a police job for two years so far. I have a bad background. I have a 3rd degree assult and an open container and vandalizum. It was three years ago in college. How long does it take to erase and they wont deny me because of that? Any options of what i can do? The only thing I want is to become an officer nothing else. Im getting impatient and fed up. Help!!!

They let you into the police academy with those issues on your record. It seems to me if there was going to be a problem with them, you wouldn't have been accepted into the academy. If it wasn't an issue then it shouldn't be an issue now. I'd look for another answer as to why you're not being hired.

If you've been to a Police Academy a department should have sponsored you. There's a couple of things you can try that might work. You could work free as a reserve officer until the department gets to know you. If you perform properly, you can apply for openings in that department. You can apply to a large city like Houston, Dallas or New York. Also, get on the net and search for openings in cities you would like to work in and put in applications. Also, you could join the military. I would suggest the Air Force as they have real police officers. DO NOT try to hide your background.

It takes 3 to 7 years depending on your state. A police force is not going to hire someone with a rap sheat. You dould, however, try for something in a smaller town. Perhaps a call center or a jailer for a short time until your record clears. You might be able to become a prison guard. There are options.

You can have your record expunged in Court if you meet you states criteria. Go to your local county seat and enquirer at the Court house. I think the clerk of the Court can help you.

See if you can go in the Army and be in the Military Police.

I've heard it takes 7 years for those things to not be on your record.

you have to get in touch with someone in the head office and explain them your situation.
they might help you if they see you are going to be a good police officer

It dont matter how long you wait its always gonna be on your record the army is always another option gd luck whatever you do.

hmmm... i think it akes about 4 years to clear the records and get you free of those charges... maybe if you explain it to them it would help out a little
