I work in a phone center for a large local utility. We talk to anyone and everyone who chooses to call the company.
Some things about my job I like. I feel that I am a "customer advocate." I know how to make the system and the rules work FOR people. I can help with things they do not understand (I DO understand), and resolve problems that they find very frustrating. I try to bend and stretch the rules as far as possible (within reasonable limits) to help people.
Some people thank me, tell me I'm doing a good job, or that I've really helped them, when no one else would.
Some people who call are very bright, funny, cheerful and friendly. They make jokes, ask intelligent questions, and even explain things to me. They make the experience pleasant.
Other things about my job are simply very boring. Many routine inquiries. Simple (to me) questions, obvious (to me) answers. The same stuff over and over.
Some stuff I really do not like. Some callers scream, swear, call me names, ask questions, then refuse to listen to the answer, or get very angry and abusive, simply because they do not LIKE the answer. Some people are simply arrogant, obnoxious and RUDE.
Sometimes that gets very tiresome.
Some people cry, and tell heartbreaking stories. There is only SO MUCH that I can do! I cannot solve their personal problems, or pay their bills for them, even if I wanted to. Some of the older people who call, and simply want to chat because they are so lonely break my heart.
It's different, let me tell you! Reminds me of Y!A, sometimes! :-))
Yes, we are paid fairly well, because there is SO MUCH that we have to know, about so many aspects of the business.
I am at home right now. When I am at work I have ZERO time to fool around with Y!A!!
If I could get paid to do anything, I'd want to edit manuscripts, write, or somehow get paid to READ! :-))

I used to like my job but not so much anymore. Maybe it's because old people left and new people came in or the fact that I sit in almost two hours of traffic in the morning and evening. Maybe it's the fact that I'm the least paid person here and do the same amount of work as other people with the same job title. Maybe I'm just complaining and need to grow up a little but it's not much fun being a job cost accountant.

I mostly like my job. I like most of the people I work with. I deliver pizzas for Pizza Hut. It's easy, but frustrating when people don't know how to tip.
There was a little problem a little while ago when I was told by someone that they were going to cut my hours, so I wasn't too happy about that, but it hasn't happened and I don't think it is because right now, I'm one of the few reliable, dependable people there.
I only get paid minimum wage, but I get to keep all tips so it's a decent amount usually if it's busy enough and people tip enough.
Right now, I don't think there's a different job I'd rather have. I'm not at work right now because I think it might be a little dangerous driving and being online at the same time.

I'm an office manager in a small printing company. The job is just ok, but the money is good. After 2 years, I am very, very bored with the same thing over and over. I want a challenge, but I'm waiting until after the first of the year. I don't want the stress of a new job over the holidays. Plus, I don't want to take the chance of not getting paid for the holidays, being new and all.
Actually, I would love to be a public speaker. I seem shy, but I enjoy talking to large groups of people. I just don't have anything to speak about, or I would. Maybe I should become a preacher! :)

I love my job, I own a construction company....we not me have been in business for 37 years...I bought the owner out two years ago, and we are still thriving. I don't really have regular working hours, I pretty much work around the clock....reviewing contracts, giving job estimates, meeting potential customers. I do get paid rather well, but I work my behind off for every penny of it! I enjoy anything that is a challenge.

My job is okay, but I am leaving the place soon for a better paying job. I am an intern tech analyst that makes $12 per hr.
If I could do anything, I would be a Weeki Watchee mermaid (underwater performer) at the park in Florida.
