Why did many democrats tell him to apologize to troops if it wasn't directed to troops? Why did Kerry apologize to the troops?

John Kerry is a monument to slick politicians. He managed to go to Vietnam for 3-months and collect three metals, two of which were for self inflicted wounds. Remember Swift Boat Veterans for truth? His own crew said he didn’t do what he claimed to have done. He then came home and threw his metals over a wall when it helped him politically.

Now he is still disparaging our troops. How could the democrats believed this man was presidential material beats me. Did they truly believe he would be a Commander and Chief that our armed forces would respect? I think his remarks have made it very clear that he is unfit to lead he should resign his seat in the Senate.

Yes John Kerry should resign from any idea of ever becoming president. I wish he would resign from politics all together because he has proven himself to be a hypocrite and a traitor over and over again, and because our country and our troupes deserve a better leader than John Kerry could ever be. However, since I am a Republican, I am happy that his little slip up hurts the libs.

White male conservative have to be PC. If ALL in the Volunteer Military were minorities then Kerry might have had to be PC. As long as it is mixed he can call them dumb, because he isn't talking against the minorities.

He should resign just because HE is an idiot!

If you are in politics you have to be very careful what you say cause there are numerous people listening, ready to take it out of context and run with it. It has happened to President Bush with various statements. Lets just say it goes with the territory, and politians throughly enjoy the game.

Absolutely he should resign. He's proved that he is unpatriotic and unfit to hold his office. His pathetic attempt to apologize demostrates that he's also a "weeny", (and why did he have to be arm-wrestled by his party to even give an apology?) That is not the character of public servant.

no he shouldnt. it is lke sex scandels or anything else. republicans are held to a higher standard and there is nothing wrong with that. it levels the playing field. if the democrats were held to the same standard there would be so few as to weaken their party so that we would not really have a 2 party system, and that system is good because of the built in checks and balences.

John Kerry definitely stuck his foot in his mouth....but it was a BOTCHED joke, the intention of which was NOT meant to demean troops in any way whatsoever. Anyone with a brain knows that Kerry did not PURPOSELY mean to demean troops...nonetheless, what he said COULD be interpreted that way, and he needs to apologize for it & set the record straight.

Kerry is a patriot and a decorated veteran - something that can't be said about most of his critics.

Strom Thurmond, on the other hand, RAN on issues of segregation & racism. An actual quote from a 1948 speech:

"I wanna tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that there's not enough troops in the army to force the Southern people to break down segregation and admit the nigra [or perhaps "******" or "*****"] race into our theaters, into our swimming pools, into our homes, and into our churches."

Perhaps you will soon realize the huge fallacy in your question.

Kerry's joke wasn't about the troops. it was about the President. Maybe he should resign because, even if he had told it right, it wasn't funny.

But what Kerry said was true on many levels. How do you think education levels of military folk would compare to education levels of the overall population? By the way, uneducated doesn't necessarily mean stupid. But it does mean limited choices of careers. The military is one of the better options for those with little education, or no other means to pay for college.

Soldiers are definitely making great sacrifices for all of us, but don't pretend that they all signed up because they wanted the opportunity to fight for our country. Most of them sign up because it's a job. Or because it's a way to pay for college. Many would not have signed up knowing they were going to war. My hat off to them for following through on their obligation.

Kerry must have forgotten that his Grades in college were worse than Bush's grades, maybe thats why Bush is president and he's just a Senator.

He should resign.
