The teachers are underpaid, and went on strike, insisting that the laws change so they can get a raise. They protested but the governor would not talk to them. The state governor brought in troops, they have fired on protesters and there have been murders of protesters and journalists. The groups and now even the federal congress of Mexico have demanded that he resign but he refuses.
