I work fast food and since Im in school I was scheduled for weekends only. But for the past 6 weeks, I call in every Wednesday, and speak with the general manager and he tells me im on schedule. But when I report to work(always on time, I might add) the reporting manager on shift tell me I'm not scheduled to work.We have 2 assist. manager one is an older guy who always gives me good reviews, and the other is a ghetto hood rat about my age who gives me negative reviews, with her it's a personal issue, jealous cuz Im in college and she dropped out. I'm always on time at work, never stole anything, address officials as mam and sir, got good reviews from customers at the drive threw, speedy service the works, all this in a negative work environment created by my angry boss I still smiled and didn’t let it bother me!
1I wonder why I'm getting a constant decrease in hours?
Is there a law against this stuff and why would he just flat out lie like that.

its probably not illegal --but its a total crock of ****....I would have to come right out and ask wtf is the problem...since it has been going on for a while--dont keep letting it happen -it will only get worse. If you cant resolve it--just put in a notice and work some where else--it will be their loss for running off a good employee--which are very hard to come by these days.

This is an age old problem - jealousy in the work place. Insist that these two "bosses" get together and get it together on your schedule - they owe you that. If they don't get it together, find a new place to work - this is a ridiculous environment. Go to their supervisor (surely they have one) for additonal help - remember you can play the younger one's game. By the way, the ghetto hood rat has no business in a managerial position when she pulls crap like this. Unfortunately they don't have laws for this, but there are ways to deal with problem managers.

You need to record every single time you speak with the manager that tells you are working and get specifics (what time etc) then, when you show up and if you are not on the schedule, tell the manager on duty that you are legally entitled to three hours of pay for everytime you show up for a shift you are scheduled for and are told to go home as you are not needed. However, you are going to have a hard time proving any of this to head office/labour ministry, so really, your best bet is to go into work every week when the schedule is made and see it for yourself.

No law against it...but have you brought up the issue with the General Manager? Sounds like you need to do a little politicking to get your hours needed.

And you're always going to have that one jealous person. Don't give up or pay any attention to them. Sounds like your on a great path for success.

I would talk w/ the top manager and explain the situation. If you don't get the results you're looking for,you would be better off finding a job somewhere else.It really isn't worth going to O.S.H.A for a weekend job.

Go to the main boss and tell him or her about the way you are being treated. ASk them to make the assistant to stop changing it when they see you come in. YOu need the cash too!

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go have a chat with your General Manager and ask him for advice....and why do you go in midweek, anyway?

Keep it professional. Don't bad-mouth anyone.

Just get the lines of communication open...and stick to going in when you said you would.

Cheers!

if it's a problem with the general manager, you need to speak to your district manager.
