Hello All,

This is kind of embarrasing for me. I'm a grown man but for once I would like to have a toy as gift . I never received toys for my birthday/Christmas as anadult. I always received "normal" guy stuff like tie, briefcase, pajama... etc. I think I would be really happy if my girlfriend/family would buy me. How do I go about to tell them what I really want?

sometimes if i've been real good she'll bring me home one of those little bionicle sets

dude just make yourself a christmas list like you did when you were a kid and give it to your old lady and tell her hey baby this is what i want for christmas but then you gotta cook dinner or something or you'll get none of it

I am a parent too and it's hard to say no. But I have a few ideas... Have you checked ebay or craigslist? It's possible that another child has outgrown or lost interest with this toy as well. You could find the toy for less. Or, you could look online for a similiar toy, that may be cheaper. There are a lot of robot pets out there, perhaps that is all he really wants? I would ask him...does he really want a robot or a pet? Have you considered getting a dog for Christmas? There are many animals at shelters looking for their "Forever Home." Or another approach could be that you do not have enough space in your home for "Biscuit." Ask him to sell some of his toys on Ebay, Craigslist, or a local consignment shop. Not only will he make room for the new toy, he can buy Biscuit with the proceeds of selling his old toys. This will help teach him the value of a dollar. However, it is Christmas and if he really wants it (and you were planning to spend $300)...I would get it for him. You're only a kid once. As adults we learn too easily that the world say "no" too often. Just get smaller items to go along with Biscuit like a vet kit, grooming brush, a book about dogs and maybe a dvd about a dog like "Snowbuddies" or "Firehouse Dog." Hope this helps:)

Cool! I'm an adult, but I still would like some toys for Christmas. Honestly, speaking as a woman, your girlfriend/family would probably have more fun buying toys for you than ties and briefcases--I get bored buying stuff like that for the guys in my family. What toys do you want? It's not crazy or weird, so don't be embarrassed. A lot of adults want/ask for toys for Christmas--like my aunt, who collects Barbies. Chances are it's not as weird as it seems to you (since you've never gotten a toy as an adult). I'm not up on popular guy toys right now--do you want a train? Legos? Action figures? None of those would sound weird if my adult brother asked me to buy them for him. If it's something you really want, your family/girlfriend will be happy you told them so that they can get it for you! I bet they'll also like that you're wanting something fun for Xmas.

So don't feel stressed about it. Just tell your girlfriend/family what you just told us--like, "This might seem a little weird, but this Christmas I'd like a [Lord of the Rings action figure, for instance]. I think I have enough ties to last me a decade!" Just be sure to specify what toy you'd like, because there's a lot of toys out there! Don't be surprised if your girlfriend wants a toy for Christmas too! You can send e-mails to a lot of your family (that's what I do) if you have a big family and would rather not go through the conversation 20+ times. Another idea: make an amazon.com wishlist (they sell toys) for your family to go to and order from so they'll know just what you want! This can help, because sometimes I have a hard time explaining to my family where to find a particular toy, and making an online list saves them time and trouble.

Hope this helped, and enjoy your gifts--sounds like you're in for a fun Xmas!

I buy toys for my husband all the time. He is into model trains. He never had toys as a kid because he came from a large family and not a lot of money. Take your girlfriend or a family member to toys-r-us and brag about how great this or that toy would be to have to play with. Don't be ashamed to play with the toys in the store, that is why they are displayed the way they are. Let her see you enjoy the toy. Then say what a great gift that would be to have. Hopefully they take the hint. You are never to old to play with toys. My husband is 62. Enjoy.

Just tell them. No one will know what you want unless you speak up- btw there is nothing wrong with wanting toys, I'm 25 and I love playing with some of my 2 yr old son's toys- sometimes more than him I think :)

"secretly" (meaning write it knowing your girlfriend will see it, then try to hide it) write a letter to santa asking for toys. :P

or just explain the situation to her. im sure she'd understand that you'd like toys for once. i mean, how many ties/briefcases/pajamas does one guy need at once?
