If you have a Junior Varsity (JV) and a Varsity (V) and the game is labeled "JV" can the Varsity play also? Or just the JV team? On a middle school level, by the way.

But if Varsity has a game, the JV can play also. That's how it works here.

jv is strictly for jv and varsity is strictly for varsity the only time they collide with one another is if they decide to make a junior varsity versus varsity but it doesn't happen very much

I think what you're asking is WHO can play on the varsity? And WHO can play on the JV? Here in Virginia, 9th-graders can play 4 years at the varsity level. If an 8th-grader is on the varsity, he would NOT be allowed to participate his senior year. Yet, he CAN play on the JV as an 8th-grader and STILL have 4 years of high-school eligibility left. And, NO, players here cannot switch back and forth between the Varsity and JV teams.

Usually, in my experience, JV games allow for only JV players. Varsity games, however do allow for upper level JV players to play in Varsity games. (Usually for those who have the skill/talent to move up to varsity) Hope this helps!

it depends. sometimes there are players that are on both jv and v it just depends on how big your school is! your coach should tell you which games you will be playing.
