im going to stephen king on thursday night.should i bring his new book?

Depends on the author and the bookstore/place it's being held.
Often authors will get up and speak on their book for a little bit. Sometimes they take Q&A.
Often, they will only sign their newest books, and sometimes only if you buy it there. With a big author like King, you won't get much any time to talk as the bookstore people or even security guards will try to rush everyone in line along.

I've never been to one, but I would sugget bringing a large purse to put the book in. That way you have it if you need it, or if you don't than just stash it in your bag.
