How much control does the Iraqi Prime Minister have over our forces and what does this mean for the outcome of the conflict? Yesterday, the Prime Minister ordered the US military to remove all security check points surrounding the city of Sadr. Vehicles now freely exit and enter the city unidentified. What does this mean for our continued efforts? Will things get better or worse? Does our administration have final say or do the Iraqis? Why is this not on the front page of our news sites?

There's no way in hell American troops are taking orders from the Iraqi Prime Minister. He may think he gave an order to our troops, but those troops don't move until orders come from our generals. The generals will listen to what the Prime Minister wants, but they make the decision to go along with it or not. I'm more worried about the fact that the situation is decaying into a civil war and no one in the current administration seems very worried about it.

The only way we'll ever get out of Iraq is to turn the country over to their democratically chosen leaders... the day to day decisions have been left to the Iraqi government quite some time ago. We are in a training and supporting role, not occupiers of a soverign country. As the Iraqi forces get better, we will continue to assume a smaller and smaller role in supporting their government. This is nothing new... the same thing happened in Germany and Japan after WWII.. in fact, we still have troops in both places over 50 years later. No one complains because there is no fighting or loss of American lives in those countries.

No one but the United States military has authority over American troops ,,,,, Any thing the Prime Minister wants has to go through channels ,,,, A final decision rests with US military personnel and policy makers,,,,,,

i don not believe that the prime minister has any direct effect on our troops actions. i think he can question the generals in charge and request changes, but he is not giving orders to american troops.
