True, but NATO had assumed command long before this, when an American General handed it over to a Canadian General, who enacted the Medusa Plan in South Afghanistan. Now its the Dutch in Command. However since the USA & ENGLAND are the only ones with Superior Flying Power, they have to be asked for assistance by all other NATO countries for the support & the USA/Brits will decide whether to respond or not.

The Canadians just turned over the Nato command in Afghanistan to the Dutch. They seem to rotate the command every three or four months from what I've seen.
