I fancy a job as an IFA, and have searched for courses etc but to no avail. Ideally I would prefer to do a course from home, can you advise me of the qualifications I require and any home learning places I can contact.

you need to study for the Financial Planning Certificate (FPC) as a minimum, plus there are many other exams, as you decide if you want to specialise or not. Try the Institute of Financial Planners website, for a start, or the Financial Planning Society

You can study for the Certificate for Financial Advisers (CeFA) that is offered by the Institute of Financial Services (IFS) at http://www.ifslearning.com

They offer the CeFA qualification that is available as a four part exam and costs £130 per exam. Further to this you may want to attend a CeFA training course to help you to prepare for the CeFA exams. Visit http://www.cefa-training-courses.co.uk for further information

Go to a Financial Planner and request their qualifications...
Next find out how they got started.

Do some networking.

Good Luck!

Do you play poker, if you can bluff well than you can be an financial adviser. A good spiel, a fancy shingle on the wall, a great business card that you can design and voila' you are in.
Now just go out and find some gullible clients, charge them a percentage and invest their money and watch yours roll in.

The NASD in the states is where you take your exams. CFP is not easy to obtain. you need to work for one and have that firm sponsor you.
