okay, if you haven't learned this already a way to remember what order to do multiple step equations in, here's an easy way to remember:
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally:
Parenthesis

Exponents

Multiplication or Division, whichever comes first in the problem.
example: 3 x 4/6, you would do 3 times 4 before you did 4 divided by 6.

Subtraction or Addition

So here is an example for you:
(4-3) x 5/5
First, you do what is in the parenthesis, which is 4-3, so then you have:
1 x 5/5
Then you multiply, so you have:
5/5
Then you divide, so you get:
1

I hope this helps instead of just confusing you!

First, manage your guidance: -Jasmine's age = 23 -her age is 3 decrease than 1/2 of George's age -we want to charm to close George's age Now, outline a variable: y = George's age set up an equation: you comprehend Jasmine's age so: 23 = 3 years decrease than so: 23 = ____-3 one 1/2 (a million/2) of (multiplication) George's age, so: 23 = a million/2y - 3 confirm for and isolate y: 23 = a million/2y -3 +3 +3 upload 3 to both part The minus 3 is cancelled by technique of the plus 3 on the left and also you get 26 = a million/2y Now to get y by technique of itself, you divide by technique of one million/2 or multiply by technique of the reciprocal (turn the fraction round) it really is two/a million or 2 26 = a million/2y x2 x2 the a million/2 cancels and also you get: fifty 2 = y y = George's age so, George is fifty 2 years old! desire this helps! Jolly eco-friendly significant

Simplify what is in the parethesis first, then expand them
Get all the terms with the variable on the left hand side and the numbers on the right hand side
simplify from there.
Example
2(x + 4) = 14
2x + 8 = 14
2x = 6
x = 3

1. Distribute the parentheses. (Multiply each term in parentheses by the number in front.)
2. Combine like terms. (Add together any variables and numbers.)
3. Add or subtract on both sides of the equation.
4. Divide both sides by the number next to x to get your answer.

use PEMDAS
Parenthesis
Exponents
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction

remeber though that when you use multiplication and division work right to left and do the same for addition and subtraction...such as...

5-7+2

even though it said to add first work left to right so...

5-7=-2
-2+2=0
