I don't think so. He was speaking his mind and we all know that he is against our troops and always has been. However he should apologize for claiming that he served his country when in fact he served the North Korean's country by betraying his own.He got a scratch, got out, and then protested against the men he served with and called them murderers, yeah what a real American Patriot.

You have correctly identified Kerry as someone who is ideologically aligned against the US.
Therefore, he should not apologize, he should simply be recognized for what he is, tarred and feathered and run out on a rail.

Public outcry is really determined by which side the person is on. Kerry was clunky with his words and naturally, the republicans want to lynch him.
What if those same words came out of the mouth of the president? How would the people respond? Would the outcry be as big or would he be canonized for his intellectual insight?
I'm not saying that what Kerry said was okay, but really, would the country be in a blinding uproar if a Republican said this?

He should apologize. He said, "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." This DEFINITELY implies our military fighting in Iraq are uneducated morons. Whether that was his intent or not, he needs to take responsibility for his actions and apologize. Not just because it's the right thing to do, but also the entire Democratic Party will be slammed with this until next Tuesday until he takes some ownership.

Of course he should apologize. The words that actually came out of his mouth were reprehensible and not only something he should apologize for, but something he should RECOGNIZE he needs to apologize for. He shouldn't need someone behind the scenes telling him to apologize.
At the same time, people should recognize that what he said is not what he intended to say, and he made an honest mistake. As with any politician's gaffe, however, his political opponents will never grant him treatment that respectful.

He should just take Bush out to dinner and a movie. They would probability have a great time together. They can see "Flags of our Father" and talk about the war over a drink in a bar after wards.

He's written it off as a joke gone wrong because he got bad publicity. If he hadn't gotten bad publicity he would doubtlessly have said nothing.
