I believe the founding fathers felt that being elected was a civil SERVICE, not a career. Men would leave their farms and businesses to serve their country, then go back to private life.
dont reelect anyone!

Absolutely. The useless excuses for humanity in Congress spend all of their time pandering and campaigning for reelection, instead of actually focusing on running the country. And when these clowns aren't screwing each other over trying to get reelected, they're either doing something illegal or something immoral. Term limits would provide some measure of accountability. And at the end of each congressman's term, if they didn't do a good job, they should be taken out back and shot.

I am not sure if time limits are the answer, as if some one who has experience would be a valuable asset,on the other hand without time limits they become so entrenched, it is hard to beat a incumbent, maybe the best method would be to have it law that every politician must read a bill and understand it before he voted on said bill, and also stop this placing bills in as a package to be voted on , or if a bill was placed in a package any one who voted for the package could vote separately against said bill, also when a Representative sells his or her vote they should be tried in a court of law as a terrorist or saboteur, because a saboteur blows up something he only damages one thing if a Representative sells out he damages the nation as whole and hurts thousands or millions of people,he should be stripped of his citizenship same as a solider who is dishonorable discharged, and all of his citizen ship privileges taken away, a soldier can be dishonorable discharged or shot for simple going to sleep on guard duty , so why do they deserve the honor of being called senator or congressman even after they are kicked out of office? as if they are honorable

Yes. New fresh blood brings new fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Multiple terms of the same incumbent breeds indifference and complacency . I most especially wish we had the "vote of no confidence" system that the UK has. Say one year after a president's second term begins, we could boot him out if we feel he is ineffectual or incompetent!!! Then let the former challenger take the last three years and see he/she could do any better!!

No. An incumbent House of Representative develops clout and connections over the years, that makes him or her a valuable office holder for the community. If there were term limits, all of those connections would disappear for the area being represented.

Apparently, the average duration of a congressman's stint as a representative, is longer than that of an MP (Member of Parliment, in Great Britian). The interesting part about this is that MP's, once elected, are in for LIFE.
