hey girl, its really hard to start an acting career, there will be scammers, and many agencies that will get you down. The best way to START acting is to get involved with plays. I'm almost positive that they have plays in the U.K. but you would know much better =]]. So yes, get involved in ANY plays you can- so then you can devolpe a resume and have some acting expierences that will help you in the future. After that, well after 1-7 plays, and maybe try finding a couple film auditions. After this, send your information to an acting agency- Acting agencies won't automaticly accept you - it takes patience and time, usually a week, and they'll contact you if someone wants to be your agent- unfourtantly-you don't decide. When this happens, Agents will usually vary in payments, Actually if they request upfront payment-turn them down and tell them to have a job set up for you [[acting audition]] so then you will decide if you perfer to keep working with that agent/agency. remember there will always be scams in the acting industry-so be very careful. Also payments could be 50 dollars per job that you get-but if you get the job you get paid for acting. For now, just focus on good grads if you're in college, or highschool,or middle school,it does not matter, focus on learning and acting. Don't give up on your dreams. If you're not having fun-it isnt worth it just for fame- because you have to go through A LOT to become an actress. It's more than you think, also take an acting class, without an acting class you'll miss positions, how to use your voice and more! Remember focus on acting if you really want to be one! GOOD LUCK GIRLIE!

Unless you give the city in which you live it is almost impossible to get the information you requested.

You start acting by taking acting classes in a school, the school where you currently study, if you are a student, join the drama department. If there is no drama department call the Theater Department of the Universities and Community Colleges in the city where you live. Call the Professional Theaters, if there are any in the city where you live and for info on where to take acting classes. We can't tell you the cost, because cost is determined by the school offering the classes. Cost varies with the schools. There is no generic cost. It costs whatever it costs.

Well, local theater companies have tryouts for parts often. Then there is school/college drama teams, etc. Also, your State or Local governments often have Arts or Film commissions that can give you leads on acting jobs. Art councils also do this, too, sometimes.
You might also want to try media production firms as they hire actors/extras for commercials and professional videos.
Take some college courses in it if you can. Don't really have to have a degree in it, but that does help make you a better actor.

Have you had any formal training? I have a bachelor's degree in Theatre, I know that you don't necessarily need training, but it helps. Then, you really need to be near a major city if you are looking at Theatre. If you want TV/Movies, you need to be in LA or NYC. If you are in Theatre, you can make it in Chicago, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and other cities have a ton of theatre. Then start going to auditions. You will need to have headshots made with a photographer, and a theatrical resume made up. Then hit up the theatre websites and publications for the city you live in, and start going to auditions!! Good Luck!!

Apply to New York University. It's the best college for acting. Also USC and UCLA in southern California are also top notch. Just remember, it's a tough profession to get a chance, unless your parents or close family member are in it. Then again there are those who succeeded on luck. Those who are on TV or the Movies, have a lot less talent, however, than serious actresses who work Broadway.

Go to your local theatres and audition for a part. Another thing you can do is search for ads in the local newspapers to see what places are holding auditions. The next option is to call a management agency and get some management.

You should go to college and major in theater. You can also join your school's drama club, and do little theater.
