When outside television reporters start their report 50 feet from the camera and as soon as they've begun, start walking towards the camera - instead of just standing still?

It is irritating. It's supposed to be dramatic; to keep your attention. It's because they think you are to stupid to listen otherwise.

I have to ask the question why are they standing outside in the first place? How many times do you have to see the White House Correspondent standing in front of the White House? If they're not reporting on something that's going on outside of the building, it seems as if we could handle seeing them in the studio.

They do this because in a recent Mori poll, 85% of viewers believed reporters did not have legs having only seen them from the waist up behind a desk on the TV.

I've never particularly noticed it either.
What I do find really irritating are the "nodders". The reporters who nod while the presenter in the studio asks them a question. Then, with the time delay, they're still nodding after the presenter has finished.

They usually do when it's a boring report so the public have something else to focus on other than just listening to the babble that's comming out of their mouth.

They do it just to give those annoying members of the public time to dive in infront of the camera and stare vacantly or pull a stupid face.

i think it is just to get a look at surroundings behind to emphasise news story bieng told.
