As for your make up just do what you normaly do, maybe make it slightly more dramatic. The reason i say this is because i have heard way too many times of women who go to get their make up done and..............they just don't like it. Waste of $. You know what you like. And as for the hair look in books and pick a few styles you like tell the hair dresser what you like about each one and see what she can do, go for a practice run with the hairdresser before the day of the wedding, tell her what your dress looks like, this will help her, if she knows what she is doing.

The dress sounds cool. I'd wear the hair in a chignon or twist to kind of work with the 50's thing. Wear modern makeup (earth tones, no liquid eyeliner).

With a simple dress, I go with complicated hair.
Complicated dress, simple hair.

I would wear my hair up. An easy way I always do a fast up-do is, I put my hair in a pony tail, take little sections and and twist them into buns. I secure them with little clippys. you will have some ha ir that sticks out but it looks really cute. I have done it to 4 ppl and 1 was for a prom and they all loved it.
