A person with bipolar disorder that is treated is no different from any other person. A person with untreated bipolar disorder is capable of many extraordinary things - both good and bad.
In the end, nobody can break up a marriage except the two people in the marriage.

Not that I am aware of, particularly. Having said that, having a bipolar family member who is untreated can put a huge strain on the family. It may also be worth bearing in mind that Bipolar Disorder has a genetic component, so the children could well have inherited a predisposition to it. This would be a worry to their spouses, both from the point of view of their marriage and the effect on their children

I've never seen scientific data supporting this. But people with bipolra disorder, especially UNTREATED bipolar can impact ALL of the lives around them negatively without knowing it.
I have friends and the husband's mom has bipolar. It has caused arguments between the two of them. They won't get divorced, but it has started arguments.
my husband is bipolar - and his actions are more likely to break up OUR marriage. We don't have kids yet, but I doubt he will break up his children;s marriages, but his behavior HAS negatively impacted our marriage to each other.
