A friend wants to know your honest opinion on whether they are pretty or not- Would you lie if they weren't pretty?

Sometimes you want to be totally honest and tell that friend 'damn you're ugly" but you know this would hurt their feelings so you lie and sometimes they feel so beautiful it's hard for you to just step on that. Truth be told honesty is the best answer, sometimes its not what you say it's how you say it. Instead of saying "damn you ugly" you could suggest ways to help that person look "pretty", but i think nothing beats honesty. If they're your friends they'll understand that your giving them honesty, thats all your really capable of.

This is how I would handle it. I would make a list of their positive qualities appearance wise (pretty eyes, nice smile, whatever...). I would tell them all of this and leave out the negative stuff (big nose...etc).

Then I would say....but this is not the reason I am friends with you. What I like about you is your sense of humor, caring nature...etc.

You don't have to lie...just don't tell the whole truth. You could potentially hurt your friend and ruin your friendship. Plus, it's just your opinion anyway. You may think your friend's big butt is ugly, but someone else may think it's her best feature.

Ummm, well, I would try to not hurt their feelings. I would just keep saying you're not ugly...Plus, single in on something that is attractive. I probably would lie, because of the self esteem factor. Plus, you could always help him/her out by doing things that make them look better. Make up, flattering hair cut, flattering clothes, great personality and smells great! Plus, it's not whats on the outside, but on the inside that counts the most. There is someone out there who does think that friend is attractive!

You know, we have been looking in the mirror at our faces till they are perfectly acceptable to us. I think every woman is pretty
in some way, but some are so very beautiful in every way. If someone ask , do you think I am pretty? They probably think they are. They don't expect you to say, well, no I sure don't!! I once told this woman, there are levels of pretty and you have your fit in there with the rest of us. To soften it, I then said, but then I am so
judge. She answered with, yeah, I think I am pretty too!!

You could say something like " Well you have really pretty eyes especially when you wear that color blue. Or You have such nice hair - just tell her the nice things - than your not lying but still giving out positive opinions !

Yes. If its something they really cant change then I would never say anything negative about it. I would maybe help her choose makeup and show her how to apply and give her advice on hair but never would I tell someone they are ugly. I'm sure nothing could hurt more.

She may not be pretty to you but she is to someone else or eventually will be. If you don't think she is pretty think of some ways that might make her look better...makeup or different hair style or color. Help her with her looks a little.

Be honest but dont do it in a way that will hurt there feelings, If her stomach sticks out while wearing a tight shirt, you may want to let her know that it is untasteful....

No, I would be completely honest. That way they wouldn't go on fooling themselves and further wasting thier lives as an ugly or fat person and can do something about it to improve themselves and thier value to society and as a person as they can go get plastic surgery or start losing weight and bieng healthy.

No, I would be honest - kind - but honest. But that's just me. The majority of people don't want to hear the truth.
