Yes. All the people on benefits because they have little money, who find the cash to give to the real poor, for example by sponsoring a child, supporting wateraid, or giving their time, their most valuable asset, to help the poor without pay.
It isn't really robbing the rich, because it is done legally by the majority. But there are many who cheat the system, and some of them will give to the very poor. It is not like the myth of Robin Hood though, they don't give the majority of the money away. At least I don't know any who do.
And it is not just the rich who pay into the benefits system, but the money is held by a rich government.

Robin Hood may be fictional but the message and the legend are timeless. Robbing the rich in the 12th or 13th centuries and giving to the poor is something completely different to now. None of us is as poor as those then, there was no welfare state of course.

some legends die hard and this is one that seems to continue on about Robin Hood. However, Saint Nicholas was an actual person upon whom the Legend of Santa Claus was founded who did in actuality help give to the poor although obviously he never stole from the rich.

Actually I have. I was a police officer for many years and had many dealings with a very proficient shoplifter in my local town centre who used to do just that. She would steal everyday items such as soap powder and also she would pick pockets of rich looking people take 1/2 the money in the wallet or purse and hand it in to the nearest shop. She was often in the nick but always did what she could to help those less well off than herself and in a way got my my admiration...

No i haven't but i like to say to those who say Robin Hood is just fiction do your homework as many historians have found possible evidence of a outlawed man who could of spawned the Gestes ( Tales) . Robert Hode of Wakefield is my favourite candidate in the 14th Century he was a Yeoman Archer and was outlawed and roamed Barnsdale Forest and could of entered Sherwood as it had greater area then. Many great tales could have roots in historical fact but the tales can grow in the telling .Don't throw the baby out with bathwater.

Tony Blair

I'm sure that my friend, who is on benefits, has more spending money than me! (Though calling me rich is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration...)

OK, can I blame Gordon Brown then? Just got my pay cheque through and the amount of tax deducted.... WOW! I think that I would feel so much better if I had someone to blame... Pleeeease? :)
