yes, if anyone tries to call you from north carolina it will be considered long distance, however, you are in contract with your service provider, not your phone number. when you get to north carolina you want to go into your carriers CORPERATE store and tell them that you need to "relocate" your phone. they will then change your number to a north carolina number. BUT, then people from New York will be long distance, so you have to weigh out the pros and cons

Hi there....
If you don't have a national plan with your wireless company, and you travel to North Carolina and dial a NC number that is local to where you are currently located, you will not be charged for long distance, however you will be charged for roaming.
If you have a national plan, or NC is included in a plan as your local calling area, not only will you not be charged long distance, you won't be charged for roaming either.
Hope this helps!

Mobile calls are always paid for by the person using the mobile phone. If you call a cell phone from a landline, it will never be a long distance charge for you.
If you call a cell phone from a cell phone, both parties will pay for the call.

Yeah, but most cell companies (sprint, verizon) offer free long distance. So it's just like calling in the same state, only air time charges apply.

My plan with Verizon is great! I can call anywhere in the continental US and PR and never pay for long distance or roaming charges. I am between IN and FL quite a bit so it is a real savings.
