Don't use Limewire it is currently under investigation by the governments of several countries for copyright infringement. Choose another P2P program. Limewire will be going the way of Napster soon.

Limewire isn't the problem, what you download is. Be sure to check the file before you open it.
Antivirus scanners can only detect viruses they know about, so if a file is an unknown virus then you will be infected until someone discovers it.

You should have a look at Prevx http://www.prevx.com/

Concerned About PC Security?

So you already have a Firewall, Antivirus, Antispyware or a security suite. Is that enough? No! Every day thousands of users find Prevx because their security products failed to prevent their PCs being infected.

Prevx1 offers a totally new way to detect bad programs much faster than other security companies. We call it community intrusion prevention.

There is a real serious hidden risk that when you use P2P share files that the odds are against you. Trojans can be installed in your pc without you ever known.

Just because you keep your antivirus uptoday this does not mean that the antivirus software you use is true state of the art technology with an excellent realtime background scanner, that will catch and destroy any trojan in realtime, before it can get into your system.

I know that http://www.avast.com as an excellent state of the art realtime scanner in their background that always catches any embedded trojan or virus or a webpage that you may open and in real time block it and destroy. Their free verson for home use is free with the background scanner and auto updates two or three times per day. (I use this program and never had one virus in nine years).

Here is a free program that will protect you and may just not allow you to use "limewire or any other P2P. (I can't tell you as I don't go into P2P sites. But I do have this free program installed.]

This program is designed to protect you against "zero day attackes". Attacks that come before your antvirus or antispyware has written a signature update for a virus or spyware.

The program is free and a new advanced version just came out today and was download to my computers automatic.

http://www.cyberhawk.com (Excellent free program with no hidden malware).
