It would be either an isotope or an ion depending on the number of neutrons or electrons in the atom.
A good example of this for isotopes is hydrogen:
When there is no neutrons it is H1 or just plain hydrogen
When there is 1 neutron it is Deuterium or H2 also called heavy hydrogen
When there is 2 neutrons it is called tritium or H3

If the only difference is the addition or removal of one or more electrons it is an Ion.

That's a little vague. Atoms are made of protons, neutrons and electrons. If it's the same element the number of protons must be the same, but you can still change the number of electrons and neutrons. Atoms of the same element with different numbers of electrons are ions. Atoms of the same element with different numbers of neutrons are isotopes. I'm guessing "isotope" was the answer you were looking for.

An ISOTOPE is an element with the same number of protons BUT different number of neutrons. eg; chlorine - it has two isotopes cl-35 and cl-37.

isotope can come in different form, an anion is the atom with an extra electron and making it an N-, or a shortage of an electro would be a canion i.e. N+

1/ These are called allotropes. 2/ Charcoal and fullerene are two other forms 3/ Graphite is soft, slippery, and a good conductor of electricity. It is used as a lubricant, as the "lead" in pencils, and as a conducting material. Diamond is the hardest known naturally occurring substance, and a poor conductor of electricity but a good conductor of heat. It is used as an abrasive, a cutting tool, and as jewellery.
