You will need to get the airbags and the control module replaced.I would also have the underside of the car checked carefully as it is unusual for the airbags to deploy in 'slight' impacts.

there's a short, curved wiring-loom under the passenger seat that activates the 'airbag caution mild' even as the seat is adjusted as far ahead because it may go as a protection function once you've an extremely small baby or a toddler seat seat there and the passenger airbag must be remoted. I had the exact same challenge on my 406 and that i heavily straightened the curve a touch and that has solved the priority as my important broking service informed me that it became a difficulty-loose challenge and would fee some notes to interchange the loom.

What were you doing 40mph when you hit it??? Go to garage and get them replaced, also ask them to check your tension activators on the seat belts there is a electrical wire under seat(s) that sends the current to activate it on some cars, and if you've bust your tyre, check the wheel balance/ovality and even steering arms & linkage. Trust me, I've been hit by a car at 15mph and caused £2000 worth of damage all cos I was on full steering lock when he hit me.

"Slight bumps" don't set off airbags. Heavy bumps do. After you replace the airbag, pretensioners and control module (ker-ching!) get the suspension/steering looked at.

Get in touch with Peugeot.
Airbags should NOT activate with a slight bump .

I suggest you don't drive it but if you are in a breakdown service call them out and get the car taken to a garage for repairs. There may be more damage than you realise

Take your car to a main dealer or a suitable body shop, deployed air bags void your insurance.

Have it put back in at a peugeot garage as this is a specialist job. you need to know what you are doing to put it back properly.
