Lime is not used anymore You can use a dry powder mix or a liquid mix which has an agent init which kills of grass so your lines last longer. You can get this from any good sports store. Then again if your as skint as our club Gillford Park FC in the Northern Alliance League you just use white emulsion the cheaper the better and if you mix it five to one with water it will go further.

Yes pricely it is use to check offside. They cut the grass in such a way that between two lines there is alternatively dark green and light green. It use to check offside, it is in such a way that the places which are more green at that place the grass is cut less so the grass is more greener than the other.
