Hi, I'm Sherwin. I'm 21. I live in Canada. My Mom will get me a Computer that cost between $2,500 to $3,000. Any suggestions of where to look for a good one? Oh I'm a Mamma's Boy Too. I'm looking in to Alienware Computers or DeLL Computers. Maybe I'll get a Notebook, I have a Desktop computer all ready. So what Notebook Computer i should look for?

Well I would say both are good brand right now for gaming laptops specially Dell XPS also has good tech. support after sales ( couple of my friends work for it ). Go for dell XPS M1710 they got 4 varients of it on basis of their design & hardware components.

Check out the link below for the range which suits your budget you'll really find'em awsome ( I'll suggest you to go for the one which says mulimedia powerhouse $ 2,794:

http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/cto_xpsnb_m1710?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

You can also check this one from alienware its called Aurora™ m7700 Mobile Gaming Powerhouse its for starts from $2,679 however one thing you should notice that dell gives you better configuration for the same price range.

Like dell gives you 512 mb graphics card instead of a 256 on this one. Alienware has a bigger harddrive but wats the use if you wont enjoy most of your bulky high defination games.

So compare them and take a decision ( I say dell is better in this price range )
Check the link below for alienware :
http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/Aurora_m7700/aurora-m_features.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-AURORA-M-7700&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT

I 'll suggest you to check this brand called Pro-Star as they are giving a lot more of inside stuff then other at the same range ( have'nt heard about their after sales support ) but its a mouth watery deal as far as the hardware is concerned. I want you to check this two models by them 9068-3A, 9068-4A the only diff. between 'em is the processor its AMD 4600+ & 4800+ for $ 2,629 & $ 2,679 ( not much of a diff. )

http://www.pro-star.com/index.cfm?mainpage=productdetail&model=9068

you can try this one by gateway if you want your mom to have a bit of relaxation on the monetary side :

http://www.gateway.com/products/GConfig/proddetails.asp?system_id=nx860xl&seg=hm

I say you should read this review before you make a descision & hey take the pro-star seriously its a good deal :

Ok I've sold and built computers since 1986. If Mom has up to $3,000 to spend on a computer, spend it wisely. Alien is fast and cool but expensive as heck. Which means you wont get the same speed. Dont go with HP. HP bogs down your system with so many advertisements and demo softaware. It also includes Overture which is a spyware based search engine. Steer clear. Opt instead for tigerdirect.com. They offer the fastest built computers and the best prices if you look hard enough. Better yet, those systems dont come preee installed with offers and tracking software. They are clean of that crap. Example: Systemax Sabre $3,023, if you cut the processor down a notch. Thats a Dual graphic gard GAMERS DREAM SYSTEM! Mom will also be happy that Systemax assembles and supports their computers 100% in the USA.
