I do have HP Image Zone, which can reduce the resolution some, if that helps. I can also put the pic into different common formats, like JPG, or bitmap. Any ideas how to do this?

The file is already compressed. What you can do is change the display size by opening the file in an image editor, finding out from the menu of the editor what display size it is and reducing that size and saving it as a .jpeg. It will look like it does now, only smaller in dimension.

Resolution is really the number of pixels per square inch. Image size is how big the image looks on the computer. File size is how many bytes the file consists of.

So in using the image editor, you want to cut down on the file size by cutting down on the image size. Try reducing the image size by 55% and see what size the resulting file is. You can redo it if this does not result in under 200kb.

Graphic artist for 15+ years here.

Your image is compressed already. The easiest way is to open it in HP Image Zone or ANY photo editor and simply RESAVE IT as a jpg file. It should be below 200kb. However, that is called "compressing it twice" which degrades image quality. But many times for online photos, you can get away with it. Fast and easy solution, hope it helps! :)

If you have image zone then you can do it right there. Just change the size. Or use a company that changes it for you when you upload the pictures.

if its used for the web, you dont want the resolution below 72, if its for print you dont want it below 150. other than that, you can change the number of colors used, or its compression. if you want (in the next 5 minutes) you can send me the pic and i'll do it for you real quickly

I use either... corel photo paint, or macromedia fireworks, on the second one you can download a trial from adobe website and do it.
on photo paint, go to Image, resample and then specify the new size....

on fireworks, choose optimize and then choose the percentage and then go to file and choose save-optimized that will do.

Try making it a .gif. That can often reduce the size quite a bit (It will reduce the quallity too).
