So let's say the problem looks like this
11
x 12
--------
<-----the answer from 11*2
<------answer from 11*1
first hide the 1 from the 12 and work out the problem as 11*2
then work on multiplying the 1 with 11 but make sure you start putting your answer down below your first answer and the answer starts in the column that is below the 1 from the 12.
finally when the two answers are found, you can add them and get your final answer. SOOO here's what it looks like
11
x 12
--------------
22 (this is from 11x2)
+ 11 (this is from 11 x1)
------------
132 = final answer!

12 X 11 can be solved as follows.
12
X11
12
12
132
First multiply the 12 by 1 and write down the answer. Next multiply 12 by the second 1 and enter the answer below the 12 but one space to the left.
Next add the two answers together to find that 11X12 equals 132.
Another example; multiply 26 by 18.
26X18 = 468
8 times 6 = 48, so you enter 8 and carry the four forward, 8 times 2 =16. 16 +4 (the 4 is what you carried forward) =20, so you enter the 20 to the left of the 8 already in place so that it looks like this 208.
Next multiply 26 by the 1; 26 X 1=26.
Enter the 26 below the 208 but one place to the left. See below.
208
26
Then you add the two together and the answer is
468

There are good several methods for this - for this particular sum it would be a good idea to do 12 x 10, which is 120 and then add another 12 - 132.
For different numbers though, the grid method always works well. You draw out a 2 by 2 grid and partition the numbers into tens and units and write this onto the grid. Then you multiply each part on the top by each part on the side, and add them back together, like this:
x I 10 I 2
-----------------
10 I 100 I 20
------------------
1 I 10 I 2
-------------------
10 x 10 = 100
10 x 2 = 20
1 x 10 = 10
1 x 2 = 2
Add them together = 132.
This is the method that I teach to my classes, and it seems to work for them!
Hope this helps!

easy do one at a time:
12
*11
do 1 times 2 first.
then do 1 times 1
you get 12
then put a zero on the right of the next row
do 1 times 2
do 1 times 1
you get 120
add the two rows together
your final answer is 132
