Most times what sounds like dada is a grand noise babies make. It is much easier to pronounce a D then it is an M sound. Da da da da is almost a natural instinct of a set of noises that babies make. The direct answer to your question, yes, dada is typically the first pronunciation above mama. Mama will come very soon. Just remember we spend the first two years teaching them to talk and the rest of their lives telling then to hush for a minute. Love them ALL!!!

Dada is much easier to say for babies.
I also personally think that mama spends most of the day talking about dada and it is a word that they are constantly hearing,"daddy's home", "daddy will be home soon" .....

The phoneme for the letter D is easy for babies to pronounce, so many babies say DADA first. I used to whisper, "Dada" in my son's ear all the time, because his father felt left out because I nursed. Once he started saying Dada, his dad didn't mind so much anymore.

Actually, I heard quite the opposite. I heard that mama was easier to say because you do not have to have tongue control to say mama as you do when saying dada. ((Notice when you say dada, you have to use your tongue))
I could be wrong...now that i looked it up, i have found some places that say dada is easier.

Yes it is true. However, they aren't really referring to their father yet. Thye dont have perception of who is named who yet until about 7-8 months. DADA is usually the first sounds they make with the movement of their tongues.

the da sound is one of the first sounds babies make it isn't that she likes dad better it is harder to say mama. Saying dada doesn't necessarily mean she knows what it means. when she says it make sure you point out dad. make her associate that sound with her father. don't worry she will say mama soon enough

It is true. The d sound is easier to make than the m sound. Don't worry, you'll be hearing mama soon enough.
