Where does it say that all hybrids have to look ridiculously stupid. Why do the designs for hybrids have to be all spacy and futuristic. I read an article that said, "And with some evidence that consumer interest in hybrid vehicles is beginning to wane (see Hybrid Downturn? section), ..."

If they started making hybrids look cool like a mustang, then the interest would skyrocket.

I dont think they have to look futuristic as your asking but I think it was to appeal to the consumers need to be different. I am a Prius owner and while the shape of the car is not offensive I have had many of my friends call it the "Spaceship Enterprise". Honda has kept its market for the civic's body shape/design appealing to someone such as yourself. Also I noticed that alot of other manufacturers are keeping thier core designs and adding the hybrid piece to the cars. I hope this answers your question.

Oh and by the way I bought the Prius because of not only the great gas mileage (45-50mpg) but because I am tall (6'2"). The leg room in the front and back seats is great as well as the head room. The primary reason we (me and my wife) bought it was because of the amount of pollution we would put into the air driving a car. We reduced it significatly by having a hybrid. If there was an affordible 100% electric car we would have purchased that car instead.

I agree but the mustang blunt front end would cause to much wind resistance and lower the fuel economy. These cars are not for show only for mileage.
