I had no stitches just a teeny tear which has healed now but I did have a catheter before and after the birth and it still gives me some discomfort. So will a bath hurt it any more than taking a shower. (it is uncomfortable mostly after a warm shower.)

NO

You should not take a bath. Your cervix is still open, and you may introduce bacteria into your uterus, which can cause a really nasty infection. Don't take a bath until your doctor gives you the all clear - usually at around 4-6 weeks postpartum.
