Lifelong independent...I will vote for who I think is the best for the job regardless of party. I, however, believe in what Bush is doing and don't like his portrayal by the media. I have the "luxury" of having CNN on all day at work and their coverage is totally one sided. Conversely, Rush Limbaugh is biased as well. At least he admits it.
It is far more important to work on solutions than to sling mud but because of the money and power involved, getting elected is far more important than having bi-partisan working relationship.

Because politics are mostly partisan, very few issues are agreed upon by both parties. Your question is asked in the sense it provokes a partisan answer, Democrat or Republican. Most people are either one or the other.
The two party system is basically an us and them system. You're generally either for them or against us. Look at the abortion issue. Rights for gay and lesbian people. Is it really my business what choices people make concerning themselves?
Why can't I smoke pot legally? Because someone else says I can't. It's like the golden rule, he who has the gold makes the rules. He who controls all branches of government, controls the power. Until we have a viable third party our choices are limited with arguing amongst ourselves about who does what, where, when and how.

I like some Democrat things, I like some Republican things. I think people get too caught up in which one is what represents them. Instead of you choosing which to believe in, I think a lot of people are letting the title explain who they are. Non-partisan is out of the question for some.
And it would be easier, in light of the Bush vs America issue, to just decide what is best for our country, by voting to unite, as a whole, instead of saying "The Democrats have the right" or "The Repubicans know best." Can we not just agree to agree AND disagree?
That's my speal.

Because you're stupid and I'm a genius.
Just kidding.
I think we tend to pigeonhole people because it's easier to define them by one or two characteristics, rather than actually think about the qualities that make them who they are.

American bipartisan politics is this: Pick a side (Rep or Dem) and spew hatred at the other side.
That is why I am an Independent.
