Americans' short attention span!
Think back to the fall of 2001. American flags flying everywhere. People singing God Bless America. American citizens (Liberal and Conservative, young and old, Republican and Democrat) were UNIFIED in their horror and outrage and commitment to hunt down and eradicate these maniacal terrorists no matter where they tried to base their operations.
3000 people died a horrible death at the hands of insane Islamic jihadists unafraid of death themselves and willing to take out as many innocents as it takes to weaken the resolve of the civilizations they loath. We swore a collective oath that we'd do whatever it takes to defeat these monsters.
Remember?
What a difference 60 months and the insatiable hunger for political power makes! What the hell is a lousy "mid-term election" compared to these bigger issues? How soon we forget.
There is (and always will be) evil in the world. The Q is, should we confront it? Or should we sit back and wait for the UN to issue endless resolutions for these rogue states to ignore?
Is the day coming when a terrorist blows up an American city with a nuclear weapon purchased from North Korea with Iranian oil money and smuggled across an unguarded US border? Is this idea far-fetched? How far-fetched was it to have 16 illegal immigrants blow up the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon?
Wake up!

We ourselves are the biggest threat to Homeland security. The political bickering and posturing we ezt up on a daily basis is totally destoying the fabric of our society. Thomas Jefferson said, "Freedom is not free". The information and apathy for involvement within the political process is hurting this country such that our eyes are not on the important matters that will hurt us in the long run with respect to Homeland security.
I love this country and it is a shame to see it in this condition. Our weakness to bow to the majority or worsed yet the infinately small minorty will (if unchecked) will unravel this country into the state in which we sought our freedom.

A nuclear explosive device smuggled into the country by al Qaeda types. Read Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears to find out one way this might happen. If Iran gets nuclear explosives, do you think that al Qaeda would be far behind?

I'm still worried that bushco will or has sold our ports security to Dubai. Lou Dobbs at CNN was all over that when it first hit the news. So, thankfully, the media did bring it to the emporer's attention back then.

defenitally the ease of crossing our borders illeagally. I have nothing against people immigrating here, but they have to do it legally. I know that a lot of illegals are just looking for a better life, but someday a terrorist will get over here by crossing the mexican border.
