It is interesting to see these studies come out all the time, who is paying for and conducting them? The alcohol companies, the government, alcoholics?

You need to look more carefully at the 'studies' to which you are referring. The part that is agreed upon is that there is a substance in wine, particularly in red wine, that breaks up fatty deposits in the blood and prevents arterial plaque from forming. Even now they are trying to synthesize this substance for use as a supplement WITHOUT the consumer having to also imbibe the high-calorie alcohol content. There is also evidence that one ounce of alcohol daily can contribute to this blood-thinning effect, although not as efficiently as wine. The studies are documented and have no relationship to either the liquor industry or government or some shadowy group of conspiratorial alcoholics....
