Not based on a true story, but is based on the medical condition he suffered in the movie. I forgot the name of the disease, but you see the flashes of light and your senses heighten. I think they may have heightened his senses a bit much but who knows? Stranger things have happened :-)

My experience with the Aliens was a very private matter... It has made it difficult to explain "why I know what I know", so therefore, I keep my experience to myself. I am embarrassed to tell people about the experience, because of the skepticism, and the cruelty of others. The story in parts is true, and in parts, also embellished.
As in the movie, my hope would be, that the "take away" is that we all are a little kinder, and a little more receptive of the intrinsic things which make us human, and an openness to the things that we do not understand...
