durinng the seveties bands like the sex pistols came to the fore because they represrented youth, gave the two fingers to the crap music that was in the charts, and said f**k you to a system that ignored them........perhaps history will repeat itself and once more the youth of this country will have a voice (speaking as a 40 year old ex punk)....

hey there! i hink there is going to be a revolution...but not because of the crap music, i think (my opinion and dont you fuckers go telling me its wrong or this that n t'other) that the revolution will be more of a political one... i dont mean your greenday sh*t or your mcfly boll*cks either... this is like american punk like anti flag and the unseen, nofx and the like..they speak with political content and many others are doing the same... look at anti flags content, i mean theyve written 99% worth of political songs and actually taken the time to talk about the ideas and inspiration behind each song (just check out turn coat) so yeah i think therel be a revolution as many people are taking to punk as an alternative source of media...

sorry for the little rant...yeah i think theres going to be a revolution but not against music... against government!

(iv been to so many punk gigs, new and old and iv never heard a band that hasnt had a political content in it...)

It came back to popularity in the early 2000s with the popularity of bands like blink 182 sum 41 etc. and the trend is over again in the mainstream.
However, DIY underground punk is still here as it always has been

Something all marketing execs. say is "always look for the counter-trend" It looks like "Glam-goth" is the next phase and then maybe that Scissor Sisters style neo-disco, Punk's not too far off though, I think.

what are you on about.....green day do play, write and sing their own stuff

just because punk isn't at the forefront doesn't mean it isn't there....what about black flag, x, the misfits, nomeansno, dead kennedys and bands like that in the 80s....and green day, nofx, dropkick murphys and other pop punk acts in the 90s

It never left man. It just keeps getting more "bubblegum" and socially acceptable, which is obviously taking away from it's meaning.
