I am a college student and I am soooo burned out. I've only been going for 2 1/2 years. I still have 2 years to go! I have to force myself to do homework or study. All of my work is done at the last minute and I dread going to class sooo much! I am on my last semester of basics, so next semester will be better, but what can I do in the mean time to be a little more motivated. I still have a 3.86 GPA and do very well in school, I just really do not enjoy it anymore! Anyone else like this?

Everybody gets burned out whether your in college or on the job. I just want you to know how proud I am of you. These next 2 years are going to fly. Enjoy it while you can. Set daily goals and give yourself a break once in a while. You'll get through it. I was the same way when I was in college. I am so glad I stuck it out. I have a really good job and a wonderful home to come home to. Think of your future and what your education will give you.

You might need to take a break. School is a hard thing and it's great that you have a great GPA. Usually I would say caffine but when you don't feel like going to class and do homework at the last min you are telling yourself that you need some personal time. Time to go have fun and enjoy yourself. If you think you just need a weekend or a week to have fun than do so; I don't know the weights on your grades but your GPA seems high enough to take a week break. You don't want to put yourself in health danger. Even consider taking half a semester off if you don't want to take a full one off

When I got burned out as an undergraduate, I joined an RSO and took a position as a student worker at our library. Both exposed me to a lot of really nice, fun, smart people who became lifelong friends. For me, it was a matter of finding a good support network while doing something a little different everyday, something that wasn't just about school.

Also, making time in your schedule for a "fun" class is really helpful. I took fencing, tai chi, piano, linguistics, and art history for fun.

When things got really bad, I changed my major, but transferred the credits from my previous major into a minor and an area certificate, simply so that my transcripts would reflect all of the work I'd done. I still graduated in 4 years with a solid GPA, 3 internships, a student work position, and RSO involvement.

Next semester make sure you sign up for at least one class where you know you will actually enjoy lecture and doing homework and not just another class just for your major.
I found out that what burned me out the most was just taking classes for my major and since they were all the same, I just didn't even want to look at the books. So each semester I try and take at least one class where I know I will have fun. If you don't even look forward to school then you may even think about changing your major, that helped me.
Oh and make sure you give yourself "me" time as well. Take a day and just do nothing but pamper yourself without thinking of school. I like to go out with my friends and from time to time I go to Barnes and Noble and read just for pleasure. That boosts me cause it tricks me into believing that reading is actually fun. Kickboxing classes help too :) release all that tension! hehe
Anyway, thats what helps me, try different things until you find what boosts your spirits.
Good luck!

I felt that way when I was in college, however, being a college student is the best years of your life. Being a working stiff is no fun. I wish I were back in college. Enjoy your time in school, try to find a fun and interesting major.
