I've always been taught that sex is for the person you're married to. No, I'm not following after because my parents said so, but I know in my heart it's right. It's in the bible...But anyway. When I got to high school, I was just so suprised to see that the girls don't even mind telling people!! They don't just do it, they say it to whoever! I'm like Wow...are you serious? Saving sex for marriage seems so out dated, but I'm 15, and purity means alot to me. But back to my question...to the girls who are teenaged and have sex and don't care who knows. Tell me, why? I'm not criticizing either so don't get mad please you all. Hey and this is for the guys too! I believe it takes way much more of a man to have the strength and will power to do what it right and wait... ADVICE for yound adults like myself:: Please, save yourself for when you're married! It's the right way to go..."Blessings come to those who wait..."

Girl my thoughts are 100% the same with yours. Down with casual sex! People need to grow up and be a man. Having no self control or being a coward by giving into pressure does NOT make someone a man but more like an animal or a child.

Wow that is deep. And any one in high school knows the girls who go around playing that dangerous game. Self worth is part of it, but seriously if no one tells you to wait, or worst yet some one tells you to go ahead and do it then what are you going to do?

Sadly most people are sheep, and the strongest voice usually wins out in there minds. Why else is teenage drinking and drug use on the rise. Parents are taking are either taking the back seat approach or the overly contolling method.

Okay that makes so little sense.

I'm in high school too, and I agree with you whole heartly. I think you should wait until you are married and you know you love someone. A girl I know in my grade just had a baby and she is only 15. I hear it in the locker room too and I'm just like "how can they do this so openly" I dont know if it makes them feel wanted or because they have low self-esteem and maybe they will feel cool if they do it.

I strongly believe in saving sex for marriage; many modern people are misinformed when they do not consider fornication (sex before marriage) to be a sin. The hippie and feminist movements are part of the blame. They encouraged sex outside of marriage and went agaist marriage. The first rebellions seemed to start during the 1950's, when teenagers were recognized and rock and roll became popular. Unfortunately, fornication is no longer taboo, and if we accept it, its trend will not change. I have a question that is still up about feminists and sexual sin.

I personally think most of it is for attention. I'm 34 yrs. old, but I remember those teen years well. I did it for attention, my friends did it for attention, and I see teens today doing it for the same reasons. And I'm talking about 2 different kinds of attention here:
1. For some teens it's all about the feedback/response they get from their peers just for saying "oh, I did that girl". They somehow feel that it makes them more "grown up" or "maucho" and they just thrive on the responses/attention they get from others.
2. For alot of others (especially girls) it's all about getting as much attention as possible from the guys. Usually this results from lack of attention in the home, or in younger years. And let's face it-- some girls are just attention whores (for lack of a better word)......meaning they will do whatever/whenever/wherever just to get themselves a little bit of the spotlight. Good/decent attention, or sexual attention......these girls will take whatever they can get.
This is particularly scary to me as I have an 11yr. old neice that I am raising. She was abused, and very neglected (affection and attention wise) when she was younger. I've never seen a kid more starved for affection/attention as her. Even after 5yrs. with me, that constant craving for attention/affection has not gone away. When in public, or around boys, she goes out of her way to stand out, and will act as goofy as possible just so everyone will notice her. She cannot stand it if ALL eyes are not on her ALL of the time! Silly as it may seem, I can imagine her being sexually permiscuous in a few years.......JUST to fill that void, because guys will tell girls what they want to hear, and give them lots of attention when they want to get into their pants!
Anyway.....That's my take on it all.......Hope it makes some sense

Sadly morality is pase, it has been for quite some time. I was chaste in high school but most of my friends would sleep with anyone m or f, no one thought it mattered. None of the believed they could get aids 18% of my graduating class got aids of that 12% died of it. I believe you are making a great decision and I hope you can wait it is a valuable gift and shouldn't be tossed around so carelessly.

I know what you mean..when I was in high school.and a guy would tell me that he like me..I would say yeah right..get lost..(in a nicer way)..guys in high school just wants to sleep with every female that would allow them..
I am so proud of you and that you believe in this waiting till you get married or fall in love..trust me when I tell you its better to wait and you are not missing anything..because after you do the do..with someone they act real shady after then you feel like crap.

so it is good to wait..we as women sometimes give men alot of power...why I dont know?

First of all, hormones are going crazy during these years and some teens are going to experiment with sex. We all know we're not supposed to "do it" until we're ready. It makes teens feel more mature when they experience something that only adults can enjoy. It's also part of that rebellious nature. I think that the problem with teens having sex is not the actual sex part, it's the consequences of having sex that teens are not ready for. Such as STD's and pregnancy. All I can say is that, teens are going to have sex, at least as adults, we can educate them the right way so they can be more careful.

you are pointing out what has been built as a norm in society. and Tv and the movies have partially made it ok and acepted. it is unfortunate. US culture today has made this the norm. Women are expected to look perfect all of the time. this kind of goes with it.
