The Nazi's had a good deal of trade with the muslim states in the middle east, which helped provide fuel for their war machine. After the British and allies liberated the middle east from the tyrannical grip of Hitler the region was divided into the Nation borders that exist today, including the creation of Isreal under the Belford Act, which was strongly rejected by Arab nations.
Any how, the US and CIA liked Saddams anti-communist stances and installed him as President of Iraq after his brother proved to be a bungler. Nixon even presented Saddam with a rifle and a porkpie hat as a symbol of US/Iraq partnership, we have seen pictures of Saddam firing the very same rifle from his balcony as he wore the hat.
For the next 40 years the partnership was pretty good. Iraq proved a valid buffer against the Iranians and weapons trading to Iraq by the US and European nations remained in good standing, including the nerve gas sold to Saddam by Danish manufacturers that killed thousands of Kurds.
Saddam's orders against Kurds and the invasion of Kuwait gave the US administration the go ahead to impoverish the Iraqi nation after Desert Storm destroyed all infastructure. For the next 10 years a generation of Iraqi's grew up knowing only one thing, The americans did this to them, not Saddam.
America returns in force and "liberates" them from Saddam after the decade of harsh embargo's.
Should Iraqi's be thankful to America? If they where, there might not be the scale of violence we see today happening with America's once vital allie in the Middle East.

Bad stuff, but now a mjority of Americans feel that Saddam's
removal was not worth it.
Iraq as a nation did not have WMDs or plan per se to attack the US. Militant Al Qadea cells did. We should have focused on attacking terrorsist cells, instead of excaserbating terrorism by trying to domesticate a Middle Eastern nation soaked in Islam.

During Saddam's "reign of terror" he built world-class hospitals, universities, libraries and museums. Gasoline was 5 cents a gallon, and there was no unemployment.

That's OK. That was over a four decade time period. Bush will kill many more in just a few short years.
Now I'm glad I've had this opportunity to show you who the REAL war criminal is!
