Here's part of it:

Helena’s Servant

Most stories begin with "Once upon a time", or "Long ago," which are quite monotonous. However, this particular tale begins with a boy, an average boy with not much popularity to speak of. One day as he was working hard in the fields picking barley, a horse-drawn carriage came into view on the dirt path. As the chariot slowed to a stop, an orchestra of French horns stepped out of it and performed a fantastic symphony, leaving the little fellow mesmerized. After the show, a stout little man stepped out, dressed in the finest clothes gold could buy. He rolled out a sheet of parchment, and read: "Queen Helena II is seeking a man who can please her fully in only three days. Give your consent or be beheaded." How lucky I am! , thought the lad, as he stepped into the ride with his belongings. Once at the palace, he was given royal garments to wear, and was (continued)

presented before the Queen. In the Queen's throne-room, silk curtains lined crystal-glass windows. Gold trimmed anything visible. An expertly hand-painted constellation adorned the marble ceiling. But what astounded the boy the most was the Queen herself, a petite young woman with long eyelashes and rosy features. She wore robes of lavender and white, and many rings on her fingers. Despite her cheery garments and wondrous jewelry, she looked nonchalant and grim. While eating a plentiful supper of hot and delicious foods in the Grand Hall, he thought about his family at home, whom he loved dearly. He then thought about the Queen, a girl about his age, having to have the burden of ruling a kingdom, and listening to the many complaints of villagers, plus having no one at all to please her. That is probably why she hired him in the first place. With much in his head and stomach, he drifted away into an uneasy slumber.

Peasants in the 19th and 20th centuries tended to have biblical names or they were named after a royal or president (depending on the country). So you might choose, Jonas, Samuel, Josiah, Paul, Abraham, George...something along that order.
