I know that CRT monitors can emit some harmful radiation that is bad for the human body. An LCD monitor should not do so. But I am not sure. Does it have any harmful radiation or other side effects?

Initial studies show no ill effects from LCD screens. However, they haven't been around long enough to determine if long-term exposure (hours on end every day for decades) causes problems.

In any case, staring at it for too long isn't going to help your eyesight any. If you're on a computer for an extended period of time, try to look away, out a window or something, every now and then, or take breaks, to allow your eyes the break, and the chance to refocus on something other than a screen.

The amount of radiation generated by any monitor is negligible... You're doing more damage to your health by sitting for too long in front of a computer from the prolonged periods of sitting, than by anything your monitor is doing.
