Whenever i shut the faucet in the kitchen, it sounds like the water pipes are banging against a wall. I tried 'bleeding' out the water pipes to remove air, and this helped for a few hours but the noises came back.

water pipe arrestors claim to get rid of the noise.

Here is a random website from google to show how they work.

Two things, air hammers are needed to prevent the bang from shutting faucets quickly. But I would secure and strap down the pipes first.

you need to install a short pipe maybe 6" long facing up on the pipes that make noise. the 6" pipe should be caped and this will eliminate the noises. this allows the pressure to go somewhere and not rattle pipes. your local plumbing store will have these if you ask for them as well

Surge arrestors may help or find the loose pipes and strap them down so they can't bang around.
