duo=dual.. two processors. two is better than one

The Core Solo processor has 1 Core that is basically one processor inside. The Core Duo is 2 Processors on the same processor.

The Core Duo have Dual Processors inside of one. They have separate L1 Cache which is usually small amount of data that is used for the processor and they have a shared L2 Cache that they both can grab data from.

So basically they can process two data streams at once as with the core solo everything gets in one line and waits it's turn for it to be processed.

This happens so fast anyways that the average user doesn't really notice a difference. But the power users need the extra power.

The link in the Source has Intels Explanation.

Cheers!
