Does anyone know of a divorce lawyer that's cheap. Like under $700 and possibly one that can be paid in payments? I need this in Milledgeville, GA. Thanks.

Ask them to refer you to the local Legal Aid Society. If you meet specific qualifications they can sometimes do your divorce for free. If not, ask them to refer you to a lawyer who meets your qualifications. Most lawyers take payment plans.

It is usually cheaper if it is an uncontested divorce and no children are involved. If they two of you dont have any disputes and you agree to how things are split up, you may just be able to do it on your own. I know in IN you can.
You could just start calling around and see what the rates are. Some lawyers have a free consultation and will advise you of what their fees will be at that time.

Really a lot of attorney's will work with you on payments for the retainer on a divorce. Call the attorneys in your area and don't be afraid to ask. If you can't find an attorney in your home time, start expanding your search.

No, but consider mediation (alternative dispute resolution) if there is a program it's cheaper and better in the long run.
