I have a 4-zone radiator hot water heating system at my home. All the other three zones work fine except for the one for family room and kitchen. The floor is not heating up at all. The theremostart for that zone works. What kind of problem is this? Can anyone help me please? Thank you very much

Thanks to everyone. My system is underfloor hot water heating sys. It has 4 seperated zone controlled by the theremostart. All the theremostart works. I guess the water for the zone that not heating up didn't circulate or block. So no hot water run through. But I can't find any vavle that controls that zone or any air lock beside the boiler. Where dose the air lock or the bleedding valve located possibly? Thank a lot

There are 4 theremostat and 4 solenoid valve (I believe so) on each circuit/zoneunderfloor. The theremostats are standard Mechanical non-programed theremostats. And I think it works fine. Cause when I adjust the temperature on the theremostat for that room, the valve clicks and then the boiler lights up or turn off. But the hot water can't go through the pipe (it seems) and even I turn the theremostat all the up to the highest temperature, the floor is still cold. But the boiler keeps running and heating the water.

the valve for that room might be stuck or there is an air lock in the system. try bleeding the system and check the on valve for that part of the system

Most likely that zone is at the end of the system where the water has lost most of its heat already. You can try closing the vents on the baseboard registers a little in the other rooms to see if that helps the other zone. Most likely the other rooms are a little warmer already

It's a pretty good cert that you have air in the system and it needs bleeding. It might just need the air expelling from the top of the affected radiators with a special drain key or the air blockage may be along a piece of connecting pipework somewhere in the system.
Try draining the air out and see what happens.

sounds like that zone needs bled if no bleeder valve one needs to be installed also there could possibly be a leak i think you mention i kept heating up if there was any other problem besides a leak the water temp would stay the same and not call for heat hows the water bill
check water meter depending on age and what state your in you should have a leak detector on meter which would show the slightest leak

You say, 'radiator hot water......... ...floor not heating up..........' what kind of system is it, radiators or underfloor???????

If it's underfloor and only one zone is not working then it can only be a valve for that zone , have you got an accessible manifold, is there a motorised or solenoid valve on each circuit/zone? how is it controlled, how many thermostats, what type??

Get a radiator key, at the top of the rad loosen the nut which is in the indent, you will hear hissing as air escapes, when hot water starts to come out tighten the nut, ok done, easy, it called bleeding the rad.

I've read up on this problem on other forums as i have a similar problem. I think everyone knows how to bleed a radiator, but how do you get rid of air blockage in the system if the blockage is not in the radiator, but somewhere in the pipework!!!

Check your water flow, and the water heater for that zone if it's separate from the others. If it's the flow, you may have a pipe that's clogged, preventing the heated water from getting to the zone. If the heater is separate, check th pilot if it's gas or the solenoid if it's electric to be sure it's working correctly.
