How do I make a dilute solution? I need to make 100 ml solution of 0.100M from KCl (1.0M stock). Please, explain the proceddure

Use the formula
Cstock*Vstock= Cdil* Vdil=>
Vstock= (Cdil/Cstock) *Vdil=
=(0.1/1)*100 =10 ml

So you need 10ml of stock solution. Put it in a volumetric cylinder or flask of 100ml, add water up to 100ml and mix.

Mixing 10ml stock and 90ml solvent is bad practice for making solutions. It is an approximation used only when you are handling very small volumes (<2ml) because there are no volumetric cylinders or flasks for such volumes.

Dilte 1 part of 1.0M KCl with 9 parts water: i.e. 10ml 1.0M stock + 90ml water.
