I have read that the Tigers will need more left handed hitters next year and that Barry Bonds would be a great fit, because he's patient and him and Jim Leyland go way back , plus he would put more asses in the seats.

He's not my favorite player, but I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want Barry Bonds on their team. Even playing with the effects of injury last season (and possibly the loss of steroids), he still hit 26 homers and had a better on-base percentage than any current Tigers player.

Calling him a loser because he's never won a World Series makes no sense, either. When the Giants made it there in 2002, Bonds hit .471 with 4 homers and an amazing .700 OBP, so he's hardly to blame for not winning a title. If anything, he should be given credit for turning some poor Giants teams into competitive outfits over the past couple of seasons.

And as for being a poor teammate, it's not like his surliness should hurt anyone. Sure, he might be a jerk, but baseball is also the least "team" among team sports, since 90% of the game is the duel between pitcher and hitter.

You don't have to like Bonds, but to dismiss him is just nonsense. I'd love to have him on my team because he'd give them a better chance to win, and that's what the game is all about.

I'm a Tigers fan. Detroit born and still live here. My first rememberance of going to a Tigers game was in 1976 and seeing Fydrich pitch. Yea, the Tigers have a great chance of making the World Series this year.

why don't people want barry in their lineup? he is a guaranteed 15 wins per season for his team, by just playing him 110 or so games. you think maggs or monroe wouldn't love batting behind this guy? please. he has been the most dominant player in the last 20 years. he will soon fully pass the torch to pujols but he can still play another solid year while approaching his mid 40's.
please dave dombrowski, sign him. as for team work goes. he is a great team guy. he's just had a few problems with other arrogant players. if pudge can handle him, tigers would be alright. he'd be a dh and team play isn't as regarded in that spot. look at how long dimitri lasted here at dh and he had that same attitude as barry, but barry can pull it off, because he's barry.

Bonds the druggie.WOW what an asset. I wouldn't back a team that hired a bum like him.All the steroid bums need to be shelved.Let's get back to baseball, not show offs.Leyland may not want to have a cheater on his staff, but then he doesn't own the Tigers.

GO ! WHITE SOX

You've got your story all wrong. There is no love lost between Bonds and Leyland. And anyway the Tigers don't need his baggage. He's a loser and a cheater. He's never won anything in spit of all the crap he has pulled. The Tigers are better off without him.

part of the reason for the tigers' success this season is team cohesion. on paper, a barry bonds with his numbers may seem like a good fit. but, it just seems that way.

You heard wrong, missy.

Even though The Tigers do need a left handed bat mr. bonds would NOT be a "perfect fit".

The Tigers got to where they are because of a little thing called teamwork...of which mr. bonds knows NOTHING about.

IF mr bonds were to don the old english "D" I would PUKE MY GUTS OUT!!!!!
